Meet the team: Liv, General Operations Manager
September 26, 2024
Can you briefly introduce yourself and provide an overview of your role within the company?
I'm Liv, the General Operations Manager at Dexory and I have been here for just over six months.
I built a 10-year career in the care industry, getting into management at the young age of 23, and an operations manager at 26 years old and last year I made the big choice to completely change my career, and here I am!
I’m a bit of an introvert until I’m comfortable with people. I love all things outdoors, I love being around animals and I would describe myself as a spiritual person, and I love doing anything that develops my personal growth – in and outside of work and I’m extremely passionate about mindset.
How would you describe your professional journey and the key milestones that have led you to your current position?
As I said above, I spent ten years in the care industry. I managed to get an ‘Outstanding’ with CQC, and excellent feedback from stakeholders. I pride myself on my ability to take something that wasn’t working quite the way it should to create goodness. That’s where my love for compliance began.
My previous role included running multiple businesses on behalf of the CEO, creating and launching a franchise model, running a charity and teaching those working in care how to progress and grow, scaling and expanding these businesses. I also completed my qualification a couple of years ago to become an accredited life coach.
I feel I have achieved a lot of success in my 20’s but last year I knew I needed to do something different, give myself a new challenge to utilise my skills and challenge myself to grow. That’s how I ended up at Dexory and every day is definitely a new and exciting challenge, giving me a variety of knowledge, experience and professional growth.
How would you describe Dexory’s culture and work environment?
Dexory is a fast-paced environment that breathes excitement into every day. No two days look the same to me, allowing me to diversify my skill set, and work with a number of people who have supported me in my development.
I left my previous job role where I felt like I knew pretty much everything, to come into an environment where other than the basics – I did not have a good overall understanding of how a company like this operated but I can honestly say, I have been supported the whole way by some of the amazing colleagues I have and I have developed a strong sense of confidence in my abilities now and to do and be so much more.
I am so grateful that Dexory took a chance on me and allowed me to develop myself.
If you could have a famous person as your mentor, who would it be and why?
Oh… that’s a very big question. I don’t think I could choose one.
Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Steven Bartlett, Mel Robbins, Bob Proctor, Jay Shetty, Whoopi Goldberg, Oprah… all for different reasons including personal growth, professional development, belief mindset and just pouring goodness back into you. I believe different people provide you with different value!
