Meet Syreeta: The recruiter who powers Dexory with heart (and energy drinks!)

Could you please tell us a bit about yourself, your background and your role at Dexory?
I’ve been in recruitment for over 10 years after having completed a law degree many moons ago. I’ve recruited in almost every industry that you can think of, from healthcare to robotics on both a national and international basis.
I’m a mum to an 18-year-old actor and 4-year-old furbaby, and I’m probably one of the most quiet people you’ll meet (not!).
Here at Dexory, I’m a Senior Talent Acquisition Consultant and I recruit across all teams and for all roles alongside Steph (Head of Talent Acquisition). We look after the whole recruitment process from search to sign and ensure that potential candidates know how fab it is to work at Dexory and how great it is to be a Dexorian!
What’s the most interesting or unexpected thing you’ve learned here?
The fact that we have the tallest robot in the world and are developing even taller ones!
How would you describe Dexory’s culture and work environment?
We are lucky enough to have a great culture where people genuinely care about each other. I’ve never worked in a company where people ask how you are, wait for an answer and just randomly say ‘hi’. It also doesn’t matter where you’re from, it matters that you are great at your job. It’s a fast-paced environment, but we all row in the same direction and understand the why of what we are doing as we work out how to do it to the best of our ability. I love that you can speak to 10 people from 10 different countries in 1 day. 🙂
If you could travel back in time and give your younger self one piece of career advice, what would it be?
Keep going, you will find your way and join the company that feels right for you!
If you could name the next Dexory robot, what would you call it?
Syreeta Junior, of course!
What inspired you to get into your field of work?
I like helping people to excel, and this is the perfect way to do that. People enjoying their jobs and excelling at what they do is why I do what I do, from the grads starting out to the people who have been in the world of work for a while.
What’s the first thing you do when you log in each morning?
Check emails and new applications to our roles.
What do you think sets Dexory apart from other places you’ve worked?
The culture - It is real and it is good.
What advice would you give to someone considering a job like yours?
The road of recruitment has highs and lows, but the highs outweigh the lows. Don’t take anything personally and remember to breathe.
What’s one item on your desk that always sparks conversation?
The fact I always have a can of energy drink next to me.
